DCED Permitting Portal Bill Introduced

Governor Corbett had proposed early in his campaign that the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), now led by Secretary C. Alan Walker, should be the lead agency for state work with expanding and new business operations throughout the state. Legislation was introduced this week to begin putting his plan into motion.

House Bill 2022, sponsored by Rep. Michael Peifer (R-Pike), would create a Business Permitting Portal at the DCED. The Portal would be the single electronic access point for business owners to complete forms associated with certifications, permits, licenses and registrations necessary to establish and operate a business in Pennsylvania. DCED would review the forms, work with other state agencies to determine which permits might be obtained through the portal, and work with the applying businesses to help ensure information is complete and requirements are met.
